About Us

Founded and guided by director Dr. Sally Thompson, our ongoing work is the collective effort of many people. Projects bring together the indigenous knowledge base of regional tribes with professional expertise in the fields of archeology, ethnography, ethnohistory, historical research, cartography, documentary film, graphic design, multi-media presentation, educational curriculum, and professional development. The result of this collaborative effort is represented in the wide range of quality multi-media learning resources we offer to educators and the public. Our offices are located on the University of Montana campus in Missoula, where we receive support from Continuing Education. Funded through grants, our projects include partnerships with universities, state historical societies, museums, Montana Office of Public Instruction, US Department of Education and National Park Service.
